Meet our Principal

Mukta Sambrani is a lifelong learner and equity focused school leader.  Mukta’s strengths are her depth of instructional knowledge, her commitment to educator coaching for growth and retention and her vision of equity, opportunity and justice for all. Mukta's leadership rests on the strong relationships she builds with teachers and staff, students and families. Throughout the years, her work in education has been noted for its unwavering commitment to fostering excellence in self and others and dedication to creativity, community and social justice.

Before taking on principalship at Lincoln Elementary in the summer of 2019, Mukta served as assistant principal at Edna Brewer Middle School in Oakland Unified, for six years. Prior to that, she was a High School teacher for seven years. Mukta's qualifications include  BA, MA and M Phil degrees in English, an MFA in Creative Writing, a teaching credential and an M Ed in Educational Leadership.

Mukta brings deep coaching experience focused on high-quality instruction, academic differentiation and inclusivity. A commitment to Social Emotional Learning and Restorative Justice  oriented approaches to conflict resolution inform Mukta's work with students, community members, teachers and staff. Mukta works collaboratively with all stakeholders to improve instruction and maintain positive school culture and climate. 

Mukta believes in the liberatory power of learning and knows education to be the passport to the world.  At Lincoln Elementary, Mukta hopes to create a lasting legacy of academic excellence and equitable outcomes for all.
